On this day the right-wing Israeli Jew Baruch Goldstein killed 29 and wounded 125 Muslims in a mosque in Jerusalem. Born in New York, Goldstein moved to Israel at the age 26. He became a supporter of the Jewish extreme right, prone to racism and terrorism against the Arabs.
On this day he entered a Muslim mosque during the morning congregational prayer, when the worshippers were facing Mecca. He was dressed in an army uniform with an Israeli IMI Galil type assault rifle. He had four full magazines of ammunition.
He opened fire on the people in prayer, with intent to kill as many as possible. Each magazine contained 35 rounds, so he had a total of 140 rounds. When he ran out of ammunition, survivors overcame him by throwing a fire extinguisher at him. They then beat him to death.
