On this day, Pablo Picasso, one of the most famous artists of all time, died at the age of 91. 



He died in the French town of Mougins in Provence, six kilometers from the Côte d’Azur. This place is located in the hinterland of the famous Cannes and a few minutes’ drive from Grasse, famous for its perfumes.

Picasso died while he and his wife were entertaining guests at a dinner party. Picasso’s last words were “Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can’t drink anymore!”

He was buried at his private Château of Vauvenargues in Provence. It is believed that the legacy of Picasso’s paintings is worth more in financial terms than the legacy of any other artist in history. Namely, some of his paintings have already exceeded $ 100 million apiece, and it is calculated that he produced around 50,000 art objects overall.
