The unfortunate funeral of Elvis Presley near Graceland – 1977.

Today, Graceland is one of the most visited tourist homes in the entire United States. It has been turned into the Elvis Museum and is visited by about 600,000 tourists a year.

After Elvis ’death on August 16, 1977, thousands of people gathered in front of his Graceland villa to see the body of the deceased in an open coffin. Villa Graceland is located in the city of Memphis in the US southern state of Tennessee. Elvis has lived in this villa for the last 20 years of his life, ever since he became famous and rich enough to buy it. Today, Graceland is one of the most visited tourist homes in the entire United States. It has been turned into the Elvis Museum and is visited by about 600,000 tourists a year.

On the eve of the funeral, one of Presley’s relatives – Billy Mann – received $ 18,000 to photograph Elvis ’body. The photos were published in the National Enquirer newspaper. Indeed, that number of National Enquirers achieved the highest readership in history.

The funeral was held in the Graceland area on August 18, 1977. About 80,000 people gathered along the road that passed the procession from Graceland to the local cemetery. An unfortunate incident occurred on that occasion. Namely, one of the cars crashed into a crowd and killed two women, seriously injuring the third.

Elvis Presley is buried next to the grave of his mother Gladys Love Presley in the local Forest Hill Cemetery. However, after thieves tried to steal his body from the grave a few weeks after the funeral, the bodies of Elvis and his mother were moved to the very ground of Graceland, where they remain today. The body of Elvis ‘father Vernon and his grandmother Minnie Mae were buried in the same place, and a monument was erected to Elvis’ identical twin brother Jesse Garon, who was born as a stillborn.
