The two presidents had met five times before.
On this day, US President Bill Clinton came to Zagreb for the first time. He disembarked from his Air Force One aircraft at Dance, where he was greeted by President Franjo Tudjman. Clinton was on his way back from Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he visited US troops. He was wearing a U.S. Air Force leather pilot jacket that bounced off the official protocol he was welcomed at the Dance.
Clinton talked to Tuđman at the airport premises while the aircraft awaited his departure. The conversation lasted over an hour and a half. Otherwise, Tuđman had met with Clinton five times before. Shortly after the talks, Clinton got on a plane and flew out of Croatia.
