  • The underpass, where Diana died, is located a few meters from the Seine River (central Paris). The airline distance between the mentioned underpass and the Eiffel Tower is about 850 meters.

On this day in 1997, Diana, Princess of Wales, died. Her car was badly damaged in the Parisian underpass.

Dodi Fayed was with Diana when the accident occurred. He was Mohamed Al-Fayed’s son.

Mohamed was a billionaire and the former owner of Harrods. Dodi’s mother was Samira Kashoggi, whose brother was the rich arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi (Dodi’s uncle).

Diana and Dodi left the Ritz Hotel, and Henri Paul was their driver (he was driving a Mercedes-Benz S-Class). They were driving towards the west, near the bridge known as the Pont de l’Alma.

Their car hit a pillar in the underpass. The underpass, where Diana died, is located a few meters from the Seine River (central Paris).

The airline distance between the mentioned underpass and the Eiffel Tower is about 850 meters. The famous anchorages for tourist ships (the so-called Bateaux Mouches) are also located in the vicinity of the underpass.
