In a big political scandal it was revealed that this state has charged excess tax from the government employees. An accounting company needed to be found to determine how much tax money should be returned to employees. Dwyer was accused for rigging the job for a Californian company, in return for a bribe. On this day he called a press conference and, while 5 television cameras were recording, pulled out a .357 Magnum Smith & Wesson Model revolver and shot himself in the mouth.
