This day in 1962 marked the birth of American musician, dancer, entertainer and Christian preacher MC Hammer. He was born under the name Stanley Kirk Burrell in Oakland, California (that city is located in San Francisco Bay, on the opposite side of San Francisco).
MC Hammer had as many as eight siblings. His successful music career began in the late 1980s.
It is interesting that MC Hammer began working as a Christian preacher in the late 1990s. He even became an ordained priest, which means he has the authority to perform acts of marriage (and he indeed married several couples).
After becoming a more spiritual man, he claimed the letters MC in his nickname now mean “Man of Christ”.
