On this day, in 1936, Elizabeth Dole, the wife of U.S. politician Bob Dole, was born.



Interestingly, both Elizabeth Dole and Bob Dole were U.S. senators. In fact, Bob Dole was once the Republican candidate in the United States presidential election of 1996, but lost to Bill Clinton.

Elizabeth Dole, besides being a member of the U.S. Senate, was also a minister. She held the posts of United States Secretary of Labor and United States Secretary of Transportation.

Her husband Bob Dole was a senator for 27 years, and was even serving as Majority Leader for a time.
