  • The U.S. Navy has an annual budget of around 150 billion dollars, which is equivalent to the annual budget of all the institutions of the European Union. The U.S. Navy possesses 10 nuclear aircraft carriers and its submarines have the capacity to hit over 1,000 separate targets with nuclear warheads of up to 475 kilotons. Thus the U.S. Navy alone is a nuclear superpower.

This day marks the birthday of the U.S. Navy, because the U.S. Congress ordered its founding on this day in 1775.

The U.S. Navy is today by far the largest navy in the world. It is almost incredible that it is more powerful than the next 13 most powerful navies put together.

The U.S. Navy has an annual budget of around 150 billion dollars, which is equivalent to the annual budget of all the institutions of the European Union.

According to the number of personnel, the U.S. Navy is larger than the entire armed forces of the UK, Italy, France, Brazil, or Germany.

The U.S. Navy possesses 10 nuclear aircraft carriers (no other navy has more than two). In fact, the U.S. Navy is organized as an army in its own right, and even has its own air force (separate from the U.S. Air Force).

The Navy’s air forces have over 3,700 aircraft at their disposal (fighters, fighter-bombers, helicopters).

Its nuclear submarines have the capacity to hit over 1,000 separate targets with nuclear warheads of up to 475 kilotons. There are around 50 American nuclear submarines deployed throughout the world.

It is interesting that the nuclear missiles in the submarines are also part of the Navy, and today comprise most of the U.S. nuclear arsenal, making the U.S. Navy itself a nuclear superpower.
