The Culebra Cut is an artificial valley that forms part of the Panama Canal, linking the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Panama and hence the Pacific Ocean. Its total length is 12.6 km. Its construction was considered one of the greatest engineering feats of its time.

This photograph taken in 1913, when the works on the Canal were nearing completion.
