On this day Argentine presidential candidate Juan Peron won the election, while at the same time the parliamentary elections were won by his Labor Party (Partido Laborista). These were the first presidential elections that Peron won.

It is interesting that Peron married Eva (“Evita”) only four months before the election victory. Later, Peron would win two more times (in 1951 and 1973), but he would not be complete his second term because he died already in 1974, just nine months after the start of the term, at the age of 78.
