The Bahrain World Trade Center became the first skyscraper with built-in wind turbines on this day in 2008.



Wind turbines are used to convert wind to electricity. The two towers are 240 meters high, and wind turbines are placed between them. The building`s design allow it to direct wind to the turbines.

The three wind turbines can produce up to 675 kW of electricity. Each wind turbine has a diameter of 29 meters. It is estimated that wind turbines can supply from 11% to 15% of the building`s energy needs.
