The hijackers abducted four planes, and simultaneously attacked multiple targets in the United States on this day in 2001.



Two planes focused on the twin towers of the World Trade Center, one plane on the Pentagon, and the last plane was supposed to hit a target in Washington, D.C., probably the U.S. Capitol building or the White House, but that plane crashed in Pennsylvania after its passengers attempted to take control.

All passengers were killed, including 19 hijackers. A total of 2996 people were killed. The victims were citizens of 77 countries.
