  • Conrad Hilton bequeathed his immense wealth to a charitable foundation, but his son Barron Hilton challenged the will.

Conrad Hilton – founder of the world-famous Hilton Hotels chain, died on this day. His mother was a devout Catholic, and she raised her son that way, who remained religious until death. His immense wealth Hilton bestowed to a charitable foundation, but his son Barron Hilton challenged the will. After a court settlement, it was agreed that a larger part of the wealth was to go to the son, and a smaller part to the charitable foundation. Today, the wealth of Barron Hilton is estimated at 2.3 billion dollars, and he promised to leave 97% of the wealth after his death to the charitable foundation, to which it would have belonged before, had he not challenged the will. As an aside, Paris and Nicky Hilton are the great-granddaughters of Conrad Hilton.
