The Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie was member of the Solomonic dynasty, which had ruled Ethiopia since the 13th century.
It allegedly originated from King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.
Haile Selassie means “Power of the Trinity”, and that was the royal name of the Emperor.
He was born as Tafari Makonnen. When Selassie received his noble title, he became known as Ras Tafari Makonnen.
