Lee Harvey Oswald was a suspect for the murder of President John F. Kennedy. On this day, just two days after the Kennedy assassination, Oswald was killed when the police officers led him out of the basement of the police building, taking him to the county jail. He was killed by Jack Ruby, a nightclub manager from Dallas. The whole event was recorded by a television camera, which was broadcasting live, so millions of viewers were witnesses. Jack Ruby stated that his motive for the murder was to spare Jacqueline Kennedy from attending the trial. Oswald was shot in the abdomen and died less than two hours later at a hospital in Dallas, the same one where Kennedy died two days earlier.
