Automotive production was an example of propaganda used to glorify Adolf Hitler’s government. The company was originally called Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH. A year later, its name was changed to Volkswagenwerk GmbH. The production was part of the program of the powerful organization KdF (Kraft durch Freude or Strength through Joy). This organization was part of the German Labor Front (Deutsche ArbeitsfrontDAF), led by Robert Ley.

Adolf Hitler was interested in developing the Volkswagen car (literally People’s Car) and the famous Ferdinand Porsche also participated in the project. Today, Volkswagen Group is one of the world’s largest car manufacturers, and one of the world’s largest companies.
