On this day, in 1895, the wealthy American banker and politician, Prescott Bush, whose son and grandson became U.S. presidents, was born.

Prescott Bush also had a successful political career and became even a U.S. senator.

He married Dorothy Walker, who was the daughter of George Herbert Walker also a rich banker and investor.

Precisely after his surname Walker” both Bushes carry the middle name Walker (commonly abbreviated to W”).




We should mention that another grandson of Prescott Bush became a famous politician. Of course, it is Jeb Bush, Governor of Florida from 1999 till 2007, who is the brother of President George W. Bush.

Prescott Bush studied at the prestigious Yale University, which actually became a family tradition.

It is interesting for Prescott that he was a member of the secret association “Skull and Bones”, in which his son and grandson (both American presidents) were also members later.

Prescott Bush is sometimes referred to as Hitler’s bankerbecause he did business with Germany at the time of the Third Reich.

Prescott Bush died in New York at the age of 78.

At the time when he died, his son George Bush already held a high position of U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, and just three years later he became the director of the CIA.
